Abstract

This research aimed at identifying the benefits attached to the adoption of Intelligent Building Systems in the Construction industry. The demand for a better quality of life has led to the continuous search for more Comfortability within homes, hence, Intelligent Buildings. Quantitative approach was employed for the purpose of this research, with questionnaires administered to construction professionals that are relevant to the study. A total of 176 professionals (Engineers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Builders) were reached. However, 75 returned Questionnaires were passed fit and certified for further analysis. Analysis was carried out using the Mean Item score and standard deviation. The findings from this study reveals that the biggest incentives for adopting Intelligent Building Systems are; Better environment and intelligent city respectively. Reduced energy cost and optimised cleaning are further down the list. Over the long run, the benefits should outweigh the barriers because Intelligent Building Systems aids Sustainability of not only our buildings and cities, but also our lives
