3D Scene and Smart City Construction Seminar for Science and Technology
	Cooperation and Development
		21 April, 2024, Qingdao China
Vice President, Sr Prof Winnie SHIU, was invited by the Chinese
Academy of Surveying and Mapping and the Qingdao Surveying and Mapping
Institute to introduce FIG and its’ collaboration in the global
perspective in the 3D Scene and Smart City Construction Seminar for
Science and Technology Cooperation and Development on 21 April 2024 in
		Qingdao, China.
The seminar was an exhilarating experience, where experts from
various fields came together to discuss the crucial intersection of
surveying, sustainable development, and technological advancements. The
insights shared and the passion displayed by the speakers left me
feeling inspired and energized about the possibilities that lie ahead.

I was particularly captivated by Prof. Yan Qin's remarkable
presentation on the aim of reaching the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs). Her dedication to driving positive change and her comprehensive
approach to achieving the SDGs truly set the tone for the entire event.
It was a powerful reminder that the surveying community plays a pivotal
role in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
		Equally enthralling was
		Abbas
Rajabifard enlightening talk on digital twin technology. The
potential of digital twins to revolutionize urban planning,
infrastructure development, and environmental management is simply
awe-inspiring. Prof. Abbas's expertise and vision shed light on the
transformative power of this technology and its implications for our
		collective journey towards sustainable development.
As I reflect on the seminar's discussions, I am reminded of the
		importance of collaboration. We cannot achieve our goals in isolation;
it is through partnership and collective effort that we can drive
meaningful change. Together, we can leverage our expertise, embrace
emerging technologies, and adopt sustainable practices to pave the way
for a more resilient and prosperous future. By aligning our efforts with
the SDGs, we can address the pressing challenges of our time, such as
climate change, urbanization, and resource management.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Qingdao Surveying and Mapping
Institute and the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping for hosting
this remarkable seminar, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have
been part of this enriching experience.
