17-21 May 2015, FIG Working Week

The preparations have almost been completed and we look forward to welcoming you to the National Palace of Culture (NPC) - Congress Centre Sofia.

 
FIG Working Week runs from Monday 18 – Wednesday  20 May 2015.

In conjunction with the conference we have the FIG General Assembly:

  • Sunday, 17 May  09:00-16:30 at Hall 3, Level 7 and
  • Thursday, 21 May 09:00-15:00 at Hall, level 7

Conference Programme

Located in 11 session rooms, the 3-day working week program offers many different and interesting topics covering the entire broadness of the surveying profession. 

Altogether FIG Working Week will gather more than 400 highly qualified national and international speakers from all disciplines within the surveying, geospatial, natural and built environment professions.

Each day invited international recognized experts will deal with topics within the overall theme of the congress “From the Wisdom of the Ages to the Challenges of the Modern World”.

The three plenary sessions that will cover:

Day 1: The surveyors’ response to changing the city management

  • Prof. em. Dr. Armin Gruen, Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich
  • Ms. Vala Bakalova, Lawyer, Bulgaria
  • Prof. Georg Gartner, Professor, Technical University Vienna, Austria

Day 2: The surveyors’ response to pro-growth land management

  • Mr. Daniel Roberge, World Bank, United States
  • Dr. Clarissa Agustinus, Global Land Tool Network, UN-Habitat, Kenya

  • Mr. Ionut Savoiu, member of Parliament in Romania and former Managing Director of Blom, Romania

Day 3: Global and Regional Professional and Institutional reforms

  • Mr. Bengt Kjellson, Manager, Lantmäteriet, Sweden
  • Mr. Maurice Barbieri, President, CLGE, Switzerland
  • Assoc. Prof. Todor Kostadinov, Bulgaria
